Volunteers 55+ needed for new After-School program in Delta

RSVP of the Capital Region-York County is seeking volunteers for an after school program. Become a volunteer and make a difference with children attending this new Mason-Dixon community service program in Delta, PA.

Volunteer benefits include: transportation reimbursement, free supplemental liability insurance, recognition and appreciation events, assistance with clearances, Comcast Newsmakers appearance, volunteer of the month in York County 50+ monthly newspaper, and improved personal happiness.

RSVP of the Capital Region has been serving the needs of eight counties by recruiting and placing volunteers who make a difference in their communities.

York RSVP Volunteers for the Month of April

Barbara (Barb) and William (Bill) are the York County RSVP Volunteers for the month of April.

They live outside of Delta, Pennsylvania. Bill is retired from Exelon and has two sons, one daughter, and a grandson. He volunteers as a tutor at Delta-Peach Bottom Elementary School and volunteers at Mason-Dixon Community Services in Delta. He has many hobbies include; hiking, kayaking, and reading.

 

Barb is a RN and volunteers at Mason-Dixon Community Services each week. She enjoys her vegetable garden along with her sewing/knitting room.

They are truly a couple giving back to their community.

 

Winter Items Collected for York County Residents

RSVP of the Capital Region-York County in association with six donation sites located around York County collected warm clothing for adults and children items for the winter months.¬† The donated clothing included; socks, hats, scarves, and gloves. The donations sites were located at Stewartstown Elementary, Hanover Council of Churches, Hanover Street Elementary School, Red Lion Senior Center, and Issac’s Deli in York.

We collected four hundred fifty items that were donated to Hanover Council of Churches, Mason-Dixon Community Services, Hanover Street Elementary, and Stewartstown Elementary School.

Colonial Manor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in York and Windy Hill Senior Center donated most of the clothing for the residents in York County.

Some individuals at Colonial Manor knitted some of the donated clothing.
